About the job:
Sales represent the backbone of our services and products. The role of Sales Executive is thus pivotal in our mission to explosively grow our existing customer base within first tier financial institutions and service providers. Our current clients include Fitch Ratings, Deutsche Bank, ING Group, KPMG, PGGM, and many more.
Our Sales Executives are responsible for every aspect of the sales cycle — from seeking out new prospects, capturing their attention with our business case, to closing the deal. Your success will depend on your initiative, but you will never walk alone; your colleagues will always be there for you, and you will get the support you need while retaining the freedom to do what you do best.
Within Owlin, you will work closely with top software engineers and data scientists in a culture where everyone loves to learn from one other. Owlin operates globally with a focus on the financial centers of the world, including London, New York, and Singapore. We are currently servicing our London clients from Amsterdam and are about to open a new office at the heart of New York, so expect your frequent flyer miles to stack up!
You are a well-connected extrovert with comprehensive work experience in the financial sector. You get energy from conversations and feel comfortable presenting in groups. You are good at expressing yourself on paper as well as through PowerPoint and Excel. You do not necessarily have a technical background, but you have a passion for technology and the way it is changing traditional markets and institutions. You want to be part of that revolution and are looking for an adventurous job where you can make a real difference.
It will be your role to translate the capabilities of Owlin to the financial market and vice versa. You know how to sell and value a deal. You are good at analyzing possibilities, targeting opportunities, and following through to the end by closing deals. You can get the job done, either individually or as part of a team. You can listen attentively, address difficult questions or concerns, and be proactive in translating these to concrete action items. As an integral part of our company, you can recommend changes in products, services, and policies by evaluating results and competitive developments.
- A background in and proper understanding of the financial market (4-8 years experience)
- A large network in the financial sector
- A technical background or a strong affinity for tech
- Experience in giving presentations to small and large groups
- Strong proficiency in English, Dutch is a plus
- Excellent writing, PowerPoint, and Excel skills
- Authentic and ambitious
- Entrepreneurial and pragmatic mindset
- You feel comfortable talking to bankers, risk managers, and traders at every level
- An interest in IT and big-data-related projects
- High degree of personal motivation and ability to manage your own schedule

What working at Owlin is like:
Take your bike, tram or just walk to our office in the center of Amsterdam (De Pijp). Gaze at the queue of tourists in line for the Heineken Brewery and, as you arrive, remind yourself that your office has a better view and a better terrace than the late Freddy Heineken. You determine your own starting time at Owlin, but we usually start around 9 o’clock. At 9:30 am, we have a stand-up meeting where everybody shares their deliverables for the day. Throughout the day, you stay in contact with your prospects and clients, schedule your next presentations, or send out that offer you know the client is going to appreciate. Later, you sit together with one of the developers brainstorming about the next Owlin feature you know is going to knock some socks off.
